Karim Lotfy will become Chief Digital Officer at The Creative Club (TCC). Europe’s largest DIY company and umbrella brand of creative platforms stoffe.de and makerist.com, is thus strengthening its management with a second tech leadership role. With Lotfy, the leading creative online retailer is aiming for even bigger digital leaps. As a former professional high jumper, jumping is in Lotfy’s blood. He made it to the top of the world with an all-time best of 2.25m.

At the age of 16, the Cairo-born high jumper Karim Samir Lotfy came to Germany to fully dedicate himself to competitive sports. The high jump ace studied at the Cologne Sports University in 2007, won gold at the U20 African Championships in Ouagadougou and jumped to the Egyptian national record of 2.25m just one year later. He studied International Management at the International University of Applied Sciences Bad Honnef and Web Design and Development at the SAE Institute Cologne. Further education at Stanford and Harvard round off the tech visionary’s portfolio of higher education.


At The Creative Club, he started as a front-end developer in 2016 and took on the role of Head of Web Development in 2019. Together with Andreas Thies, Chief Technology Officer, he now forms a tech dual leadership. As CDO, Lotfy has set himself the goal of driving forward the digital competence of TCC and being a bridge builder into the digital future for all units. To this end, processes, e.g., in recruiting and purchasing, are being increasingly automated. Enhanced personalisation and shop migration are also on Lotfy’s current agenda.
